Lung Foundation Australia is the only charity and leading peak body of its kind in Australia that funds life-changing research and delivers support services that give hope to people living with lung disease or lung cancer. Since 1990, we have been working to ensure lung health is a priority for all, from promoting lung health and early diagnosis, advocating for policy change and research investment, raising awareness about the symptoms and prevalence of lung disease and championing equitable access to treatment and care.

Peer support is unique because it is support provided by people that have similar lived experiences and empowers both the people giving, and receiving, information and support. For many people connecting with a peer support group can help them work through some of the the complex emotions that come with a lung disease or lung cancer diagnosis.
"Today we have over 25 members from across the state who come together every month to seek information about their own care but also to share knowledge with others. It has been incredible to witness the support and camaraderie that is easily formed with people who just get it."

Lung Foundation Australia are using the Mighty Networks platform to provide an opportunity for our affiliated peer support groups to connect online. Each of these groups are hosted by volunteer peer support leaders with no moderation or involvement by Lung Foundation Australia. By joining our Network you can find a peer support group that aligns with your interests and needs.
All of the peer support groups in our Network are private and provide a safe and supportive space for members to discuss their thoughts and feelings. We welcome you to review each group's description before requesting to join one, and becoming a member.
Our peer support groups are largely peer-led, by volunteers with a lived experience of lung disease or lung cancer. Some groups are led by respiratory healthcare professionals passionate about supporting patients. Group leaders facilitate group meetings, events and activities and welcome new members.
Thank you to everyone who have dedicated time to facilitating a peer support group.
All members part of Lung Foundation Australia's Peer Support Network are encouraged to create a respectful community that diversity and inclusion. You can read more about Lung Foundation Australia's online network guidelines below.
