Lung Foundation Australia is the only charity and leading peak body of its kind in Australia that funds life-changing research and delivers support services that give hope to people living with lung disease or lung cancer. Since 1990, we have been working to ensure lung health is a priority for all, from promoting lung health and early diagnosis, advocating for policy change and research investment, raising awareness about the symptoms and prevalence of lung disease and championing equitable access to treatment and care.

Peer support is unique because it is support provided by people with similar lived experiences and empowers both the people giving and receiving information and support. For many people, connecting with a peer support group can help them work through some of the complex emotions that come with a lung disease or lung cancer diagnosis.
"Today we have over 25 members from across the state who come together every month to seek information about their own care but also to share knowledge with others. It has been incredible to witness the support and camaraderie that is easily formed with people who just get it."

Lung Foundation Australia are using the Mighty Networks platform to provide an opportunity for peer support groups to connect online. Each of these groups are facilitated by volunteer peer support group leaders with no moderation by Lung Foundation Australia.
By joining our Network you will be part of an online community, and can find a peer support group that aligns with your interests and needs.
All peer support groups in our Network are private and provide a safe and supportive space for members to discuss their thoughts and feelings. We welcome you to review the description of each group before requesting to join one, and becoming a member. Only peer support group leaders invite people to join their group. Please note, the thoughts and opinions expressed may not be those of Lung Foundation Australia. You need to decide if the group is right for you.
Our peer support groups are largely peer-led by volunteers with a lived experience of lung disease or lung cancer. Some groups are led by respiratory healthcare professionals passionate about supporting patients. Group leaders facilitate group meetings, events and activities and welcome new members, they do not provide counselling or medical advice.
Thank you to everyone who have dedicated time to facilitating a peer support group.
All members part of Lung Foundation Australia's Peer Support Network are asked to create a respectful community. As a member of the Network you will be able to create your own profile, and see our members profiles. However, all peer support activity and conversations will take place privately within individual peer support groups, not the overarching Network.
Please ensure you read the Online Network Guidelines below.
